Bohemia

The word origin of Bohemia is derived from French Boheme and from the Latin word Boiohaemum, the home of the Boii Celtic people. Bohemia (presently a part of the Czech Republic) was in the past a part of the Holy Roman Empire, the Austrian Empire. Building a brief independent state of democracy for 20 years established in 1918. After the World War II Czechoslovakia became a part of the Soviet block till 1989.

The Velvet Revolution changed the course of history in 1989 and the socialistic state restarted the journey towards democracy.
